The temps have finally dropped in Dallas, so I’m ecstatic that I can finally wear this Simplicity 2054 dress I made over the summer. I bought this jacquard sweater knit at Joann, and I knew I wanted to make a slouchy sweater dress.
I made View A, but omitted the cowl collar. The relaxed fit of this pattern makes it a great beginner knit pattern, and I love that it can be dressy or casual based on styling. I’ve made three other versions from this pattern, but this one is definitely my new fave! It’s so cozy!
Even though this pattern fits loosely, I went up one size for a slouchier look. Since I’m 5′ tall, I shortened the length by 1 ½” and sewed a 2 ½” hem. I also cut the neckline binding about a ½” wider than the pattern piece.
So, have temperatures fallen where you are? What’s on your sewing “to-do” list this fall/winter? Are there any trends your loving?
