Learn tips to sewing my Charm City Tote Bag!
This is a two-part class. For the first session, we will piece our squares, prep handles, ties, and lining. You will need to quilt your bag for homework between the two sessions, and we can sew and assemble your bag the following week.
Note: Pattern is not included in the class fee. You will need to bring your sewing machine, fabric and supplies.
Supply list includes:
- Denim, linen, or canvas for handles: fat quarter/quarter yard
- Kraft-tex, leather, or vinyl for exterior pocket and handle accent: sheet of 8½”x 11”
- 10” zipper or longer
- Charm pack or 40 5” squares
- Accent fabric for binding: ¼ yard or 1 ¾ yards of double fold binding
- Accent fabric for ties: quarter yard or 2 ½ yards of ¾” or 1” wide twill tape
- Fabric for lining: 5/8 yard
- Fabric for welt pocket: fat quarter
- Bosal 58” wide: 1 yard/36”
- SF101 interfacing 20” wide: 2.5 yards, more if using fabric for accent pieces
Additional supplies and tools: rotary cutter, scissors, pins, zipper foot, glue stick or tape, basting pins, walking/quilting foot, large quilting ruler, quilting and size 16 denim needles, polyester thread, water soluble/disappearing pen/chalk.
