Friday Faves: Fabrique Fabrics

20181011_121207One of the most frequently asked questions I get is: “Where do you shop for apparel fabrics?” My answer is always, “Fabrique,” so I  thought I’d share a bit more about the shop here.

Living in Dallas, there are a several options to shop for apparel fabrics, but I know that I will always find something at Fabrique. I’ve found silks, linens, denims, rayons, knits, 100% cotton batiste for linings, trims, and so much more. It has a nice layout that makes it easy to find things. (I personally don’t like to waste my time hunting for fabric; I’d rather use that time to sew!) The gals are always so sweet and helpful, whether I’m looking for something specific or in need of inspiration…and a bit enabling. Haha!

There’s a small classroom, equipped with machines, a gravity iron, and a large cutting mat. Carol is a great teacher, and she makes gorgeous jackets! There’s also a separate, spacious sewing studio you can rent and spread out to work on a big or small project. I’ll occasionally pop in and ask for advice on a project, and the ladies are always eager to try and help me find a solution to my dilemma.

No matter the project, or the distance (We currently live about an hour away.), I will continue to purchase most of my apparel fabrics at Fabrique for as long as they remain open. It recently dawned on me that I’ve been shopping there for at least ten years! Their website is currently under construction, but they post new items on Instagram. Most items sell out within a week, so I generally call and place an order once I see something I love.

Do you have a local fabric shop you like to frequent? Or are you an online shopper? Where’s your fave place to shop for fabric?
