Sew January

A20190108_013803If you’re following me on Instagram, then you know I am in the middle of a deep purge throughout our home, especially in my sewing room. As a result, I’ve rediscovered a few fabrics and patterns in my stash, and I’m hoping to finish some old projects!

To get started, I’m planning to make myself a few much needed tees. As much as I love my Plantain Tees, I’ve decided to branch out and sew some of the other tee patterns I’ve acquired over the years.

First up is the Carine Tee by Elbe Textiles using a blue jersey knit remnant. It’s a free pattern for a loosely fitting tee with short sleeves and a fishtail hemline. I made the Fremantle pants a few months ago and like fit and look of them overall, so I’m looking forward to trying another pattern from the same company.

I’m also sewing Sew Serendipity’s Diane Kimono dress with an Art Gallery rayon.  We’re experiencing gorgeous weather this week, and I can’t wait to wear it as the temps continue to rise. I’m teaching this pattern as a class next month, and I think it’s the perfect travel dress for anyone heading to a beach over spring break.

In addition to the Diane Kimono class, I am teaching a new sewing class specifically geared to teens and tweens who want to learn and/or practice sewing. We will start next month, and we’re making pillowcases and pincushions. Each month will build on skills from previous months, and I’m enjoying sewing things for Lo’s new room that also double as samples for the girls to see.

Lastly, I’m participating in the #iheartyouquiltsewalong being led by Pen and Paper Patterns over on Instagram. I can’t wait to share more about my version once it’s finished, but I’m hoping I won’t mind the contrast of the red and citron once I’m finished.

What are your January goals?
