DFW Locals Mother’s Day Gift Guide

DSC_0062
I am thrilled spring has sprung!! Markets, festivals, and wildflowers in full bloom make this Texas girl’s heart happy! Lo and I have enjoyed patio weather and shopping some of our favorite local spots around town the past couple of weeks in search of Mother’s Day gift ideas.

I know there are already so many lists out there, but I wanted to showcase some local talent and well curated shops here in Dallas/Fort Worth. Whether it’s for your mom, best friend, or favorite neighbor, I hope you get some ideas and discover a new small business along the way!

If you’ve been watching my Instagram stories, it should be no surprise to see jewelry at the top of my list. I personally love a fun, new statement piece, and I enjoy finding pieces made by artisans based out of Dallas/Ft Worth.

Top Row
: Kristin from Tinbox Designs is a speech therapist, wife, and mom, and she makes these pretty pieces from vintage tin boxes! She designs each unique piece in her Fort Worth home during her spare time. You can shop her website and Instagram.
Middle Row: Kristin from All Good Things has curated a lovely gift shop in the neighborhood of Bishop Arts in Dallas. She carries a variety of statement jewelry pieces from various artisans and has a lots of other fun finds.
Bottom Row: I recently met Taylor from Tylr Jwlry at Flea Style, and she is the sweetest! I love her statement pieces, y’all! She’s a third year law student and began creating jewelry as a creative outlet. You can shop her collection online and follow her on Instagram. Use code “MOTHERSDAY” to get 20% off your purchase!

Brandon and Sara, of Tucker Ink, are a super talented husband and wife graphic design team residing in Fort Worth. They offer a variety of services from design, photography, and lettering, and these adorable illustrated family and pet portraits would be a great gift for any mom! Or, you can schedule an actual photography session with Brandon and Sara and give your mom the gift of capturing this year’s Christmas card photo!

I bought an Easter bunny arrangement from Stayin’ Alive Succulents a month ago, and I love it! I have a difficult time keeping plants alive, but my arrangement still looks as perfect as the day I brought it home. These would make great gifts for teachers and neighbors, too! Jayme is in Fort Worth, and you can find her at various local markets throughout the city. Follow her on Instagram to find out where she’ll be next!

Other items I recently purchased from local shops that make great gifts for your favorite carpool moms are:

A cute tumbler. I purchased this one from The Palm Tree Grapevine. Their website varies a bit from in-store merchandise since they have three locations- Austin, Grapevine, and Denton. The Palm Tree in Grapevine is on Main Street and offers a mix of handmade items made by fellow Texans and market items. I’ve been told they are the only independent Kendra Scott dealer in the mid cities, too!
All natural skin care set. This one is from Soprano Labs. I discovered Soprano Labs from All Good Things in Bishop Arts. They’re a small company based in New York that uses organic and natural ingredients, and their beauty detox set is my fave combination to use. I have highly sensitive and reactive skin, and their Bamboo Charcoal soap has minimized my eczema outbreaks.
Candles. I found this Pickwick & Co. Sweet Tea candle at Society in the Bishop Arts District, and it’s perfect for any southern gal who grew up drinking sweet tea on the porch during the hot summer months. It’s a great little shop that carries a wide variety of unique scents from small batch candle makers!

And, last but not least, don’t forget to get mom a card! I came across Dry Wit Goods recently, and I love Jennifer’s humor. I think her cards pair nicely with a good bottle of wine for that sassy mom in your life.

So, where are your favorite local places to shop for gifts? What’s your favorite gift to give…or receive?
